A land of fire and ice, Iceland never ceases to astonish. This unique country, active volcanically, with hot springs and floes of lava side by side with glaciers in its deserted, rocky landscapes, is home to some of the most dramatic scenery in the world. The vast Vatnajokull Glacier – the largest in Europe – and the volcanic island of Surtsey, which was created by eruptions of basalt from the sea off Iceland’s coast from 1963 to 1967, are only two of the country’s many breathtaking sights.
In October I will be travelling to Iceland, flights are booked and I’m ready to go! With this trip I want to do something very special, my aim is to capture the essence of Iceland in beautifully printed book & eBook. Unlike most photo books of Iceland, I want to capture its renowned diversity in variety of different ways…. Not only landscape photographs but wildlife, fauna, nightscapes, northern lights, starscapes, from the ground & even from the air!
Included with the book will be a beautiful interactive iOS App. The app will allow you to find the exact location of every photograph in the book along with camera settings & information about the shooting conditions at the time. With this app anyone can go to Iceland, recreate any photo in the book & put their own unique perspective on it.
I hope the book and iOS App will help to inspire photographers with a passion for travel, Iceland and/or challenging scenery and who don’t have time to go on an extended trip or do the research themselves to find and photograph the very best photographic locations in Iceland.
The beautifully printed Photo Book will feature a selection of my best photographs taken in and around Iceland. Each photograph will have location information and camera settings detailed, so anyone can find the same location & recreate the photo for themselves. At the back of the book there will also be a mini travel guide and Iceland photography tips, as well as a selection of recommended Iceland Blogs to keep up with the latest information.
The eBook will feature the exact same photos & information as the printed book. The eBook will be available in two different formats, PDF format and iPad format. You’ll be able to open the PDF format eBook on any device. The iPad version will be identical but feature several interactive sections including embedded video.
The app will allow you to find the exact location of every photograph in the book along with camera settings & information about the shooting conditions at the time. With this app anyone can go to Iceland, recreate any photo in the book & put their own unique perspective on it. The user will be able to get turn by turn navigation to each location as well as the App notifying the user when they are near any photographic location.
Please help me by pledging to my Kickstarter campaign to get this project off the ground, you can find all the information you need here: https://goo.gl/EKXuLc
