My name is Stephanie and I live in London. After I finished school, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I knew that I wanted to help people and experience the world in a different way while making a difference.
I always had an interest in teaching, but wasn’t sure if I would like it. So, I decided to volunteer abroad as a teacher. I ended up spending 10 weeks in Cambodia teaching disadvantaged kids at a community center. Let me tell you, it was amazing. I had a blast! I got to see some really cool things and I met some sweet children. Their faces lit up every time I saw them and when they learned something new. It was such a rewarding experience.
The trip included seeing an elephant sanctuary and so many other awesome sites. You see monkeys everywhere, but be careful! They might steal your food!
I found this opportunity and other awesome one here: http://theleap.co.uk/volunteer-abroad/teaching-childcare/
It wasn’t the first place I looked, but I was happy I found it. They were super helpful and very professional. I suggest taking a browse around and seeing the volunteer opportunities they have to offer.
Wherever you find your opportunity to volunteer abroad, I promise you it will be an experience you will never forget. I learned some awesome new skills and I finally decided to pursue a degree in teaching because I was able to volunteer as one.
